Im selling that on ebay right now and it looks as if, as of now, im at least breaking even on the seats...$165 bids and theres still 6 days left! woo hoo! anyway, the reason im writing, is i cant quite figure out how to put this S40 seat on my 98. i read about pounding down the tab on the fender, it just doesnt look to me like that will work. the metal on the seat seems to extend several inches beyond that tab, even if it was bent down...id hate to bend that down and it not work. seems like youd have to bend the seat somehow to get it into both the front and back tabs. just doesnt seem like it will fit... advise?
That is correct. If you bend the metal loop back a bit, you'll be able to first insert the front of the seat as normal and then flex the seat slightly to slip the tab into the loop at the back. Then bolt on as normal. Mikedasavage reported his tab rubbed the fender, so he drilled and bolted it. Mine doesn't rub at all but I may have bent the tab upward slightly before installation. I don't recall. If you do decide to drill, be careful of the wiring underneath the fender. Ed_L came up with the idea of bending the loop back and I love it. I wonder if his tab rubs the fender... Ed?
