Stock handlebars

Reading the post about mods in the technical section, I see many of you don't like the stock Buckhorn handlbars. I know it's a personal preference thing and some of us just can't leave a stock bike alone but for me they are very comfortable although some times I'd like a more forward leaning riding position. Like when I'm doing 75 on the interstate. So I'd like to hear from those that have changed their handlebars, other than just for the sake of change, why did you change and are you happy with the results.

Ride safe!

Try the apehangers. You'll NEVER go back to buckhorns or drag bars.

Those words have been festering in a dark damp recess of my brain for a while.  I see others with them and holding my hands about ten inches higher than the bars does feel comfortable.

I changed over to clubman style bars, simular to a sportster style, didn't like the position my hands were in with the stock buckhorns. The new bars don't come back as far and give me a more natural hand grip.

I changed from a drag bar with about a 5" rise to a wider, lower sportster type bar(not sure what type it is?).  Anyways,  with the lower bars, its not as comfortable as the old drag bars, but I do like the looks and the easier controle.

I went to a drag bar to let my arms stretch out a bit.  The buckhorn bar brought my hands too close and felt cramped.  As a bonus, with the drag bar I'm usually leaning forward just a little, so my weight is not resting directly on my tailbone.  That part of the seat seems to have the least padding.  Raising the front of the seat helped, too.

I am considering changing my bars just for this.

I might have to try the drag bars. This exactly what I was looking for. Are there any recommendations on drag style bars from the group.

One more thing. How do I add my own photo to my profile. I've checked " have my own photo" and entered a web location but it never works. Embarrassed
I'll sit down now and wait for my answer.

A comment ... when linking to a photo (from any site) I've found that you need to spell it EXACTLY as it is stored on whatever web site you've uploaded it to.  By "exactly" I mean that "Webphoto.jpg" is NOT the same as "webphoto.jpg" is NOT the same as "webphoto.JPG" is NOT the same as "WEBPHOTO.JPG"

We have come to expect that upper and lower case can be ignored, but (in this case) I've found you can't.

LOL!  That same quote has been rolling around my head since WD wrote it.  While the drag bars may have a catchy look, I find the buckhorns far more comfortable and have wondered whether or not I'd like the apehangers.  One day I'll have to try 'em.
