Carb Dilemma

Hi all! After finally getting my 96 running, I ran into a problem getting it to idle. While I was rebuilding the top end, I did the carb mods as follows:

1. White spacer to 1/2 height.

2. Replaced Main Jet with #155.

3. Turned Idle mixture 2 turns out.

I also replaced stock exhaust with a Mac. In my attempt to adjust  the idle, there is gas coming out the back of the pod filter onto the battery case. It also is coming out of the leftside vent tube (a little), and it seems to want to idle as long as the choke is out. My guess is the float or float needle is hanging up. Anyone ever experience this type of problem?

Thanks,

Brian

Hi,
You are having a problem with the fuel valve. It doesn't have anything to do with the mod's. Usually this happens when the bike has been sitting for a long period of time. Take the float valve out. There is a small O-ring between the brass fuel valve and the Aluminum carb body. You have to unscrew a small screw that is pressing on the f. valve. Replace the O-ring. Before You put everything back make sure the inside of the f. valve is nice and clean and the needle is clean and moving freely. Put everything back and enjoy.
