If u want to keep your dignity,dont ever think the savage can beat a kawasaki ninja 250 in a drag race.
anyway i was out riding yesterday when i pulled up to a red light anouther motorcycle pulled up next to me,i glanced over ,and he asked me if i wanted to race,ilooked at his bike and saw it was a ninja 250,i thought ive got 650cc i should be able to take him!when
the light turned green we both nailed it,i pulled in front for not more than 2 seconds,before he blew past me!
and he was about a mile ahead when i saw him next!

so i went home(pi$sed off) and looked the ninja 250 up
it has the same horsepower and torque as the savage,the top speed is 106,but what really got me is the price$2.999 brand new!thats for a dohc, liquid cooled,14k rpm bike and it wieghs 300lbs.

thats $1.000,less than the savage and its a 250 so the gas milege is great

Reply #2 - 09/08/05 at 10:09:08 ya but come on the 250 ninja is a freakin toy. those things are tiny! the savage is definately not a fast bike by any means but it can at least get out of its own way. a bike like that is set up totally different ie. gearing power curve etc.

I'll stick with my bobber!

I once raced an elderly lady on a little rascal and she barely won. I never knew those things could go so fast. But as luck would have it, her wig flew off and hit me in the face. Whos laughing now grandma?? HUH?

My friend has a honda 650 dual sport bike and it walks all over my Savage also. I know my bike isnt meant for speed but come on. For a 650 it doesnt preform like one honestly. I think the only thing i can race is mopeds and maybe bicycles haha.

Mine was pretty slow until I added a Supertrapp and rejetted. I'm waiting for a Harley Sportster showdown at a traffic light. My bike runs real good

no,my bikes not stock in the slightest,straight pipe,160 main,55 pilot,k&n air filter,all the fenders removed,with 100 octane.i just placed 6th place out of 13 bikes in a burnout pit.yes the bike has torque,which is fun,but it has no speed what so ever,but its fine with me because,i had to pay a $370 speeding ticket.

the sportster can run laps around the savage trust me. me and my buddy traded bikes on the way back from liquid steel i was on the harley if your not ready it will do a wheelie in 2nd gear,no problem. it has almost double the horsepower and torque.883 that is

Dude, your straight pipe is hurting your power delivery. A sportster muffler would do you better, and a supertrapp would do much better. Put one of those on your Savage and do a good job with the jetting/tuning and you will get much better performance across the board.

No it's not.

I have noticed the Savage is just a bit lacking on the top end. No doubt due to the porting and cam timing. I think Lancer's addressing those deficiencies. If you shift early, a modded Savage will run quite respectably. I don't think an 883 Harley will pose too many problems. Now a 1200...well duh...2x the displacement.

Did you get any pics of your burnouts?

you might be able to hang with him till about 55 or so after that hes gone.my buddy has a set of aftermarket pipes and velocity stack,but to be the same he'd have rejet too,and his bike already hits 120mph

the savage would be one hell of a bike if it had one more gear,it sucks to be on the highway and the speedlimits 70 around here,and the engines turning so fast it'll vibrate your head off.the 883 sounds like put.....
............put................put..............put.................put.........
put,and u acctually accelerate when u twist the throttle
even at those speeds

dont get me wrong i love the savage,and mine is tuned to just about perfect.

actually not 50 but 75 -80 thats when he can fly past me i'm in 75-80 in 4th and i have no more gears so i can hit about 90 -95 with out really worrying about it but
1) i dont like too gets too close to redline

2) he has alot more power in his fifth gear and i'm done for

but all the way up to about 75 i keep in the race no problems. If we go from stop to stop i beat him every time.
