this probably needs to be in the tech. section but any way puting on a leather tank divider does the black housing come off from the speedometer to attach the bib to if so how does it come off 04 thumper the hole in the bib is small hell it might not fit at all from the picture it looked like it would fit. is a 97 bike on the same design as the 04

First, the RSD is the correct forum for all questions and discussions.  The Technical Corner is for documents and procedures.  That said, it does depend on what you bought.  I bought my tank bib from the dealer and it fit perfectly with no alterations needed.  However, I've seen some since that I could've saved money on by making a few minor adaptations.
