the throttle side simply unscrew the throttle housing and remove the assembly. you may have to remove the end cap first. the clutch side is a B!TCh but you remove the end cap and the grip is glued on so you just have to work it loose . it can be done without damage but you MUST have patience Daniel Son

Easites way is to cut the left one off.  If you want to reuse it it, use a flat head screw driver and slid it up under there and wiggle it around.  The bezels come off separately.  The right one needs to be disconected from the throttle.  I used a rubebr mallet to "loosen" the bezels.

Removed both of mine and re-used on new bars. Used a thin, flat bar about like a hacksaw blade. Worked it around, along with a little alchohol, and they came off, no damage.

Aye, I used a long thin screwdriver and slid it underneath the rubber (after removing the bar ends) and then just kind of rolled it around the handle to break the adhesive.  That was for the stock grips.  I put Kuryakyn ISO grips on afterward and Odin help me if I ever need to get those off.  The adhesive they give you is some serious stuff.

No Joke!  I did not  use the glue when I put those on my V*.  I did sand paper the elft bar end, though, and it works fine (i.e. it stays in palce).

Waterpump pliers and twist them off. They're just glued on.

GLUE???  Oh THAT's why when I attached my new one it didn't stay on .. I didn't use GLUE!!

My bike was in an accident before I bought it (rear ended)  and the right bar endcap was missing (among other things)  I got a new one and couldn't figure out how it attached ... until I noticed that the throttle assembly was slightly loose on the bar and had slid down toward the end.  After I pushed it back up I attached the end cap .. but it dissapeared someplace on the way home that day.

Now that I know I need to GLUE in on .. I can get another one Wink

The easyest way to pull the old grips is to slice them with a razor blade. If You want to reuse them  do as advised- use long thin screw driver. Here is the trick- while the screwdriver is still deep in-use WD40 under the grip. The same way You can separate the rubber from the plastic in the trottle side if necessary. To install new grips back the best and easyest way is to use compressed air- place the nozle of the blower between the rubber and the bar and push.

My end caps fell off all by themselves.  Guess the glue wasn't very good.

New OEM style Harley grips are about $5 per pair, and fit just fine, so slicing the old ones off with a razor may be the easiest method.

To remove handgrips, I stick a small flat-blade screwdriver blade between the grip and handlebar and then spray some contact cleaner into the gap using one of those little tubes attached to the spray head.  You should be able to then spin the grip and pull it loose.  The contact cleaner dries quickly and will not interfere with the grip glue you will use when you reinstall the grip.
