Rear fender rails (bars?) removal
11/16/05 at 17:55:56
I have an 05 S40 with a sissy bar. I got the bike from a private party and he had the backrest put on by a dealer. He gave me the original rails and I would like to put them back on.
I need a step by step on this swap. Do the side rails and the backrest come off in one piece? After unhooking the turn signals of course. Or can you pull the backrest first and then take the rails off? Thanks for any help you can offer.

They come off in one piece.
Unhook the turnsignals first.
Loosen-up the 2 bolts inside the fender that hold the sissybar. The rest you can see from the outside, the nuts scewed on the bolts that are on the inside of the fender, you have to hold them with an open-end spanner.

Lou - The bike is at my summer home in Maine, and I won't be doing the mods until next summer. Sorry. I'll give you a shout when I do it if you wish.
