DianeS. here.  I only got my 2000 Savage two months ago, and I'm a new biker so....not too adventurous to do many mods until I read the manual and get some more knowledge.  Our garage does stay above freezing though, so I've managed to keep the bike for use on the nicer days, just to keep the battery charged etc.

I did order saddlebags, a windshield, and an engine case guard but they aren't in yet.  I did also put in a K & N air filter, and oil filter.  The bike came with a jardine exhaust, but I'll have to see whether I need to try and do the carb mod. or not.  Runs pretty well as far as I can tell, but I'll know better once I've ridden it more in the warmer weather.

may have already had a rejet - is the brass idle mixture plug still in the carb or has it been pulled? you can see in the 2nd picture where it is - so there's either plug in there or you can see a slotted screw if it's been pulled odds are good it's already been rejet

Maintenance so far (considering it's summer here):

- Oil and oil filter change (Castrol GTX and OEM Suzuki filter)

- Rear brake lining

- One tank of gas every week

- 300 kms or riding per week (just to keep her tuned)

Best,

RW

Saludos from SW Spain.  Sunshine yesterday and today and about 12ºC.  Rode 'The Lettuce' 35km yesterday and about 80km on Saturday.  '97 bone stock apart from raising the seat a shade (I'm 6'1") with longer bolts and spacers all hidden away with black insulating tape.  Didn't make it to "Pinguinos" the huge winter bike meet near Valladolid- this year in its 25th edition with attendance toping 26000 people.  Maybe next year?

Welcome Felipe!  Please excuse my ignorance but what is "The Lettuce"?

Welcome indeed!  It is good to hear from you.  I have never been to your part of the world but would definitely like to get over there for some extended riding someday.
You might as well pull up a chair, sign in permanently, and join the party officially.

I did register myself once upon a time but have since forgotten who I am as far as site moniker goes so lazily signed in as a guest yesterday.  Was I "Phil the Pastor"? or is that on sidecarcross.com - another passion.  So it was Felipe the guest this time.  Make mine a café con leche at the bar.

Meanwhile "The Lettuce" is the nickname my GSX1100 riding best mate Mick came up with after discovering I'd caught the Savage bug - jesting that it was "about as savage as a lettuce" and the name stuck.  I love my LS650 to bits.  Must fly - papers to hand in at Hacienda - that's the IRS to you statesiders.  Sun's out again so I'll do the 60km round trip on the old salad shaker.

I'm here!

The only 'mod' I'm making is to yank the cover off of Thumper, put her battery back in, and roar out the garage door and ride about 100 miles straight to burn off the fuel stabilizer I put in her tank in November.

That should happen sometime in mid-April! (** fingers crossed **)

Sportster Muffler and new Dunlop tires front and rear. Flashing tail light when braking. Looking for a new helmet and maybe a brighter plug and play headlight bulb.

Another refugee from Bert's board reporting in.  Been lurking for quite a while.  Terrific board here - nice to see old friends and new folks.  By the way, tried to "register" and it said I was successful, and would get a password via e-mail so I could login...but the password never came.  Does it make any difference?

Anyway, no mods this winter.  Mike M - Cleveland, Ohio

I take you have used it before, I use it sometimes in various things that set around but not as often as I should - anyway after 6 months with stabil in the tank does the gas still smell like gas and is it still clear?

I'm gonna put these cheap Chinese made "Genuine Buffallow Leather" (as it says on the tag) saddlebags I got on eBay on and see how long they last... or maybe I'll hang them on the wall in my garage and store crap in them to remind me that if something seems too good to be true, it is.
