Well, you only have one. The other is the vacuum line. However, I think they're both actually the same stuff. Anyway, just take the old ones to a dealer or an auto parts store and ask for some fuel line. Show 'em the originals to get the right size. Get about 18" of it so you have some spare and, while you're there, get an inline fuel filter to go with it. They're cheap extra protection and the clear ones let you see if you have fuel flow.

I want to reiterate what Reelthing said. The 1986 to 1988 are different from the rest of the Savage lineup and are jetted correctly from the factory. They do not require further meddling to cure a too lean mixture. Never shave the white spacer on these early models. Leave the white spacer intact and adjust the low speed to mid range mixture by moving the clip on the jet needle into one of three grooves. Only the early year Savage's have this feature. The middle position is standard from the factory and is actually right on. I moved the clip lower to rich-en my mixture and found the engine ran too rich. I also lost 30kms per tankful, so I put it back into the second groove. My biggest complaint is the gas tank is too small, so I was quite annoyed by the lost kms. Another difference regarding the early years is, I believe, the exhaust is more free flowing. I am not 100% sure on this but at the very least, just by the nature of these old ones being 20 years old the muffler becomes less restrictive. If you are going to change to a HD muffler I would not necessarily rejet. Just run it with the new muffler and do a plug check to test for rich/lean correctness. If it looks lean, make an adjustment with the jet needle by moving the clip down. That may be all you need to do. If not, well then you can experiment with different main jets. People forget that the very early Savages were properly set up when new. I call them the hot rod Savage.

That's true, assuming the carb is the normal one found on an '87. If it were me, I'd look at the needle and the main jet. If the needle has 3 notches and the main jet is a 155, I'd leave well enough alone and just adjust the idle mixture. If they're not, then it's time to decide what to do next. If the bike is an '87 and the anti-tamper plug is still in place over the idle-mixture screw, it's probably the stock '87 carb. I'd just want to verify personally before possibly leaning it further with airflow changes.
