Helmet lock
03/28/06 at 06:47:44

I just ordered a Kuryakyn K4220 helmet lock. This one attaches to the handlebar or highway bar. I hate to go get gas or go to a store and leave my helmet on the backrest when I go inside. I can't decide where to mount it other than somewhere on the left side, so the lean of the bike will keep the helmet off of the engine or gas tank. Do any of you guys have a helmet lock?

I always thought it would be kewl to relocate the stock lock to the sissybar.  BUT I took my sissy bar off and dropped the idea.   I wouldnt want it on the right side for the exhaust pipe and ect.

I've got one on the engine guard/roll bar, left side. Works great there. Another key to carry though. The original one is now behind the saddlebags.

I'm wanting to get a helmet lock.  Right now I'm looking at either the type that goes on the end of the Kuryakyn grips, or one called the Helmet Guardian.  I really like the helmet guardian, as it holds two helmets and mounts to the license plate bracket, one helmet on either side of the plate.  Plus, it is actually more economical than the Kuryakyn lock, which is kinda pricey for one lock -- about $35 or so, while the Helmet Guardian is $49.

Where did you mount your lock?  Got any pics?

911radioman - I would be worried about hanging helmets off the license plate bracket - that thing isn't made of very good metal - but Suzuki charges $$$ as if it were made of gold to replace it.  Just a thought.  (I had to replace mine when a guy  at work ran into my bike - company paid for it but I could not believe the cost)

I bought a "helmet lock" ... it's just a small padlock .. to use it just attach to either the brake or clutch lever.

The knob on the end of the lever prevents removal.

It works .. it's cheap.

I mounted my helmet lock to the highway bar on the left side. It works great. I will post pictures on bikepics, as soon as I can. My wedgestand is being welded this week also.

OK, I got the helmet lock pics on bikepics.
