it's good that you survived the going down to the been down side of riding, learn from your mistake, following too close.
bikes my accelerate faster, but they are slower to stop than a cage, factor that in. try to leave enough room to swerve rather than brake,i know it's not allways possible. now go out and practice some rapid stops. find a grassy field and do some rear wheel slides, a skill not taught in msc. yet needs to be mastered.
live and learn.

I hope I've learnt the lesson: keep twice the distance as I keep now.
I want to change the footpegs but today i only hammered it back to its normal shape. Or near to it. I also glued the front indicator. But I think the handlebar isn't 100%...
Anyway I've changed the well-worn stock grips to chrome grips. I'm planning more improvements...

In 1982 when stationed in Hawaii I took a dive in an intersection. I was stopped at a light, pulled out when I got the green arrow for a left turn, going maybe 10 mph and hit a tiny patch of sand (the only sand within 100 yards), the front tire went to the right and I hit the road on my left side, skin off both palms, left elbow and side and leg, bruises, etc. The gate to the closest Navy base was within sight and the emergency room just a couple blocks from the gate. I rode my bike there and let the young nurses take good care of me.
I am very glad that you came out of this as well as you did.

Thank you all again for the care. My right forearm is not very good yet. But tomorrow I will ride again. I will only check the mech guy in July before I go on holiday and travel abroad. I don't want to miss a day without my bike

Good to hear you're ok. I follow the 2 second rule - 99.99% of the time. It can only take that .01% though. They do call them accidents for a reason. Accidents where no one is seriously hurt make terrific learning lessons. Your's shouldn't be too expensive either. I think there's some foot pegs on Ebay right now. Think I even saw some decals couple weeks ago that match yours as well.
