Tachometer?

Just about every bike I've had has had a tachometer. My '96 650 doesn't. Now in the scheme of things, not having a tach isn't a major crisis or even a medium annoyance. It's just something I've been used to having. It's like watching a movie without popcorn. You can still enjoy the movie without the popcorn but having a big bag of salty, hot-buttered, freshly popped, popcorn just rounds out the experience and adds to the enjoyment.

In the Savage world, is it sacriligious to add a tach to the bike? Is there a good aftermarket tach kit anyone would recommend?

Jag.

Some do and some don't like the idea of a tach on our thumper.  I did and added a Custom Chrome 310226.  I had to modify the mount a bit and buy metric hardware, but I think I like it for now...It's like $85 on the Custom Chrome web page, but I got it new on ebay for $50 including shipping...

Much appreciated for the info. The setup on the handlebars looks pretty slick. I'll have to do some poking around on Ebay and see what I come across. I'll also have a look at the Custom Chrome website.

Roll Eyes
imo if you "need " a tach you're missing the beauty of the square thumpers song....
but on the other hand: living in the consumer enviornment, society, system buy it keep the ball rolling...
but on the other hand: if if dont make it stop or make it go why have it...
but on the other hand....

What seems strange to me, in general, is that most automatic  tranny cars I've had in the past have had tachs. But not the manual ones.  Or my savage.  or my V*.  Stange. I shift by sound/speed alone...
