That's not a worry around these parts.  Darned few full service gas stations left, and if I found myself at one I'd tell him to enjoy the free pay while I do his work for him.

I do enough spilling of gas myself, let alone someone else doing it for me!  Grin

Some of you need to be old and poor, when it's cold and rainy. You'll understand why Oregon and NJ lead the nation. Take a deep breath and relax. Hurrying only gets you killed, especially on a bike.

Now then - in Oregon, at least, it's LEGAL for YOU, the motorcyclist, to pump your own gas. In fact, it's expected.  Grin

Speaking of which, how full do you fill up your tank?  the onwers manuel says not to fill it up above the 3/4 mark or something.  I dont remember.  Do you just top it off?  From what I read it sounded like doing that was bad, but I cant imageine why.

I haven't stopped at a full service station with my bike at all.

As far as filling the tank 3/4, with the small tank we have, I can't imagine doing that.

If you fill it all the way up to the top of the neck (what ever you call the thing the cap fits in) , gas will leak out onto your beautiful tank.

I don't know of but 1 full service station around anymore and it's about 30 miles from me.
Back in the day when I was a "gas Jockey", I was taught to hand the pump to the rider. Maybe cause the guys who owned the stations were "wrenchers" and Bikers theirselves.
I did not mind handing over the hose; it gave me more time to check out the bike!

I've read that you should fill the gas tank to the bottom of the filler neck - I guess to leave a bit of space at the top for expansion.

whatever bike you have if you`re not stopping after fillup like you have many miles to go running will create it`s own space for gaz expansion. If you filled to the top and let it stand there in the sun, then you`re sure to have a mess.
Just my 2 cents.
