if youi have done the spark plug door mod be carefull !
little pebbles and other road grime finds its way to the spark plug hole. i had to vaccum it all out for fear of the grime falling into the cylinder.

I thought the mod was to remove the bolt on one side and keep the other side tight until you wanted access, at which time you loosen that bolt and swing it open.  Is that not correct?  If so, it would seem that it should keep out as much debris as the normal setup.

Yeah! That has nothing to do with the door mod. Sand and dirt will get in that hole anyway. Just make sure to use compress air to blow out the craps before removing the plug.

I don't understand what you are saying Franch. Maybe I missed something.
The door mod doesn't affect the spark plug at all except it becomes accessible without removing tha fuel tank. It as about removing a bolt as Savage_Rob mentioned.

Lion,
what I meant was EVERY time you remove the plug you should take great care to not let any small rocks/road grime or sand fall into the cylinder through the spark plug hole. with the spark plug door method i don't think one can adequately see all that grime just waiting to pounce into the hole created when the plug is removed.

Now I see your point. Very good advice! Unfortunately I didn't clean it when I changed to platinum plug. I hope there is no trouble inside.
What damage can the grind cause?

Okay, so your point is that without the "door" (in the microfiche it's called a head cover cap) completely removed, visibility into the spark plug cavity is diminished and you should therefore take extra care.  Is that about right?

Actually without the tank removed it's tough to see down there. if one has a good air compressor just blast the crap out as a matter of course before removing plug.
if one doesn't have a compressor be carefull.
