How many miles before you changed your tires?

So, how many miles before you changed your stock tires and then, how many miles did you get on the metzlers?
I searched on this on this forum and online in general. Whew, it is confusing. The answer I got was.......... it depends. I'm thinking it looks like most people change tires at somewhere between 5 and 10 thousand miles
What have you done? Thank you

Im still running stock tires (just over 4k miles). My front tire looks fine but the rear is getting a crack on the wall. I think i will need a new one soon.

I bought a stock 01 in march with 2500 miles. I changed the originals to some dunlops at 5600. They were not worn out but had some cracks in the side walls.

I got about 6500 out of the rear tire. Went back with another IRC and it is wearing pretty good with about 3700 miles on it so far. I'm going to replace the front tire at the end of the riding season, as it is wearing a bit.
I'm ordering my Superbrace this week once payday comes, and that should help lessen the front tire wear.
I guess I'm the only one that doesn't really have a problem per se with the IRC's. My rear one most likely wore out because the previous owner wasn't dilligent in maintaining tire pressures like I am.
Yeah, they aren't the most expensive tire out there, but I'm not an overly aggressive rider and so far it seems to be suiting me.

My OEMs came off when I bought the bike at 3200mi. But then again they were 10 yrs. old too. Cracks in the sidewalls. The tread was still great. I now have over 7000mi. on the bike and I just replaced the rear Saturday with only 4000 mi. on it while the front still looks new.
Soft compound tire + High torque thumper = short tire life.
Save yourself some money in the end and buy the tires that will maximize your mileage.

I have 9000k (about 6000 miles) on my stock tyres (NZ spelling) but they don't look like they are ever going to run out!, so I am getting Metzlers fitted in 2 days. Had the stock a year, but I want better rubber. Decided not to wait any longer

My 02 came with IRC's. I got a little over 12,000 miles on the first set. But my riding was mostly short jaunts. I took a long road trip on a new set and wore them out after returning home and 5,000 miles later. You were right, it all depends. All day riding at high speeds chews them up quickly. I also think maintaining the right air pressure will add some life.

we bought debby's '96 last year at 6700mi. the rear had just recently been replaced when we got it, the front tire was replaced two weeks later, about half worn, but fully hardened
no long term results yet on the new dunlops.

I got around 5000 miles out of my rear irc and 8500 out of my front irc.Replaced the rear with irc cause funds dictated,my front is a metzler and at the end of ridin season the rear will be a metzler. We ride pretty aggresive and the metzler hangs tight!I never felt comfortable with the irc up front.
