has anyone ever noticed the belt developing white horizontal lines on the outside ?
i wonder if the belt dries out over time ?
would armorall be ok to apply to the outside of belt or should i even bother ?

I think the life expectancy for belts is at least 40k miles.  Not sure on the armor all... should be okay is my guess.

Personally, I wouldn't put anything on the belt but normal soap and water.  When it comes to Armorall and similar products, I've heard they can actually hasten the deterioration of rubber on tires and such so I'd be doubly hesitant about using it on a drive belt.

I'd skip the Armor All ..... dirt can stick to the belt, find its way onto the pulleys, & cause wear.  If the belt is getting dry rot you should probably replace it.

My belt (9000k) developed a horrible squeak after getting very wet then dry a few weeks in a row. Bike shop put on some "belt lube" and problem has gone away. Is this common?
