jump starting a savage

Been reading the post here for a long time. Gained much useful info here. Thanks to all. yesterday when I got home I forgot to turn the key off. this morning when I went to leave the battery was dead -duh! I tried to jump it with the car, have done this in the past with sucess. This time nothing. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this or do i just take it to the dealer and pony up the money.

I'd check to make sure the battery had water in it, and then charge it overnight. I've learned the hard way that they won't take or hold a charge with no water

If you try jumping it agian, don't do it w/ the car on!

Changing the battery is very easy; you can do it yourself in 10 minutes.

or you could find a slight incline, take a run along side the bike with it in 2nd gear, get a little speed up and drop the clutch, should start

this is the push start method i use.  with bike in gear roll it backwards as far as you can. this puts the cylynder in proper stroke position.  then put in 4th. push pop take off.  it''s easier to do in a higher gear, i do it all the time. i'm forever leaving the key on.
