I dont know what brand mine is,maybe vista,a device at the throttle with a quick release with your thumb,it works very well although I have only used it a couple of times, once just to check it out,and the other time I needed to an give old couple the finger, they had been hogging the road for 5 miles at 45mph on a 55 mph highway, actually after I got by I raised both hands with the appropiate finger exstended, they deserved the very best.

I used to have one on the Savage.  It was useful for long rides when your right hand would start cramping up.  It'd allow you to work the kinks out without stopping.

For that purpose it worked well.  Just take your time installing it to make sure it fits snugly.

I just bought one for my other bike. I've not yet installed it. It gets very good reviews on other message boards I read. Very convenient for allowing you to take your hand off the throttle once in a while to relieve cramps. It works as advertised. It is not really a cruise control. It just locks the throttle so you can move your right hand a bit. You can override it by twisting the throttle or flipping the thumb switch.

Go for it Grin

i've been known to use a book of matches in the gap between housing and grip as a cruise control. sure it's low tech, but it works.

I have used a "palm rest" - for want of better words (forget its real name)- on my other bike. fits on twist grip but (about) out of way of hand. when you want to give your hand a break you can rest your pad on the pad part & hold the throttle open that way.

can't take hand off bars but gives your fingers/grip a rest.

if you want to take it off grip to have maximum control in the curves it comes off in a second to shove in your pocket(once you've pulled over, of course).

J.C.Whitney & other outlets carry it, I know.

not as fancy as some but maybe in keeping with Savage's pretty low tech stance & does not cost too much as I recall  (though a little overpriced for a basic bit of plastic, maybe - it came with my other bike so don't know exact price).

sorry can't download a picture (I'm low tech too!) but suggest you get on Whitney's mailing list if not already on it & check it out in the catalog or just go on their site to see it.  Smiley

further to my mention of a "palm rest"

I found out the true name & main source  - "Crampbuster" is its name.

check on www.crampbuster.com (surprise, where else?!) - price on most recent ad in magazine is 10.95. think Whitney's - identical looking/same one - was a good % more. can order from crampbuster site (I presume) or direct via phone on 800-735-5240.

they make wide & "standard" ones - I would go for latter (think my one for other bike may be the wide one which I think would take up too much room on the Savage's twist grip).

hope this is some help - not as fancy as a Vista Control or "real" cruise controls I've heard of but a lot cheaper & easy to remove from bars in seconds, as I related previously.

Wink
