Okay, I know I had seen a thread detailing how to cut down the rear turn signals to be much closer to the fender instead of sticking out for a mile. But I can't seem to find that thread anywhere. I tried the search function and I tried searching manually (and man is there a lot of threads to search).
I would like to do this mod as my turn signals are held together with electrical tape. If I can do this mod it will save me from having to buy new signals and I thought it looked cool.

you would be better served by replacing them with aftermarket signals, not expensive at all.

yes replace those bulbous pigs. there are some really cool cat eye signals for the rear single element on e-bay for just a few bucks and all you need to do is drill a hole on each of fender . They look real good about an inch behind the grab bar and just below the level of the hole for the old signals. my $.02's worth anyway john

I did modify mine to make them shorter. The pics don't show how I did it. Take 'em apart and throw the rubber part away. I got some hollow threaded rod, I think at the lighting section of Home Depot or Lowes along with nuts and washers. Cut to appropriate length, run wires through and fill it up with JB Weld. The JB shrinks slightly, so I used a small amount of silicon sealer where they met the fender. I have too many hobbies to feed so I do things on the cheap.
I'll try to find a picture.

I modified mine by turning too sharp uphill in gravel. Is that the same concept? S-I-L came to the rescue & bought & installed replacement before Jr. got home so I didn't get a lecture.
