dunlop 404

just had www.worldofwheels6.com. install two new tires on my savage today and i was able to put about 100 miles on them this afternoon. my opinion is this:  they made a new bike out of my new bike. it handles so much better than the oem - irc stuff also it seems to ride better. now i went with 130/90-15 rear and 110/90-19 front  i hope the mileage is better than the irc stuff. so far i reccomend them   john

what I use & like - not enough miles to tell how good wear is.

understand the Metzlers are even better, but cost is more & for though value my neck as much as next person Suzuki does not have power to me to warrant such a stciky tire as a Metzler (which cost more than the 404 anyway) Smiley

Check the price of the Metzelers at Tiresunlimited.com.
I didn't think their prices were that bad. I got good service out of them.

I'm quite happy with my set of Dunlop 491's.

No chikken strips on the rear. The front, no matter what, the outside edge just doesn't get touched. Well, I guess I could lay it down, but that's not much fun.

What does a Dunlop 404 usually set ya back anyway? Am looking into getting new rear tire and just wondering what I will be looking at and how much my wallet will scream from pain as I shell out the cash.

I have a 404 on the rear. It is definitely not a high mileage tire.

For that coin & mileage I will stick with the ProMaxx by Maxiss.  Sticks to the pavement just fine & if I am careful with the brake pedal I can get 6,ooo easy. I got 7,000 on the last one, but I think I am riding a bit harder now. Oh, & I Shoulda changed the last one at about 6,500, buut was not ready. Man it was WORE out!

If you like the 404 but want a bit higher mileage tire, you might checkout their 555.  I think it was max who clued me in on it.  I've got 5,000 miles on this set of them, and I can hardly tell they've been used.

Granted, mileage will vary from place to place and rider to rider.
