How far from the border are you. We used to send shipments to local post offices "hold for pickup" then you would go and pick them up. Must be worthwhile, we had plenty of people (some travel 60 miles) to pickup packages.

I've got a little over 5K miles on my set and they look only slightly used. I'm not sure what the primary differences are between the 491 and 555 but I guess they're similar in that respect.

I sure like the ProMaxx by Maxiss. Someone mentioned Tiresunlimited.com, I have't checked them out.
U.P.S. brought me 2 tires, 3 tubes, wheel balancing weights, rim strips, all for the princely sum of about $180.00. I had already bought 3 eight ich tire bars. Nobody else made a dime & I worked like a dog for the savings. Dang, Tires are tuff. next time I will toss 'em in a trash sack & let them warm in the sun a whilke.Don't do it while they are cold.

Yup, I did that for a couple of months, and got a brand new $50-$60 Cheng Shin for .99¢ and $20 shipping. From Michael Andretti Motorsports no less. Waiting for a great deal on a mate for it now, then in spring I'll have new tires for really cheap.

However, a local independant shop here offered me a set of Dunlop 404s mounted and balanced. Ride in and ride out for $250 taxes included. That's a pretty good deal I think. Mighty tempting too.

Even though I located my big old tire irons, I'm thinking that I'll pay the piper the $70-$80 to mount both tires for me from now on. I've always done it myself in the past, but as you mention, they are "Tuff" and then some. Nowadays it would take me half a day to do the job, and a whole day to recover from doing it! Undecided

The easiest way to install tires is if You have an option to worm them. Here in Az it is not so hard Wink

. I just put the tire on the black top of my truck and untill the old tire is removed, the new one is nice and soft. If You don't have our "solar heater", may be it will help if You put the tire against the home heater and wait for an hour, before installing.

I will just hual the rim in, deflated, schreider valve pulled & pay someone to deal with it from there.I will keep the tools for the day I can't find the $$$ for the guy at the store.

That depends. Without saddlebag supports, it probably won't rub with the shock presets at center or higher. With the saddlebag supports installed, mine rubbed on the left side. Setting the stock shocks to their stiffest/highest position took care of almost all of the rubbing. Replacing the bolts that hold the saddlebag supports with mushroom head allen bolts took care of the rest. Now that I have 12.5" Progressive shocks, it's a moot point. There's all kinds of clearance.

I was able to get a set of Metzeler 880's for a VERY good price on ebay. They are not brand spanking new, 1 is 2 and the other 3 years old since manufacture, but with the quality of the product I have no problem with it. Besides, even if I only use them for a couple of years/7-10k it will be well worth the few dollars spent and the ride/handling quality I will experience.
