Reply #2 - 01/19/07 at 05:47:54 Any five speed savage engine will work. The wiring problems occur when you replace a four speed with a five speed or a five speed with a four speed. Beside that it's a "plug-n-play"

justin_o_guy Ex Member	Re: Engine swap: electronics hassle? Reply #4 - 01/19/07 at 11:23:48 Nothing, YET, I am picking up a 97 engine as a spare cuz I ride it pretty hard & if the engine develops a problem that willn take some down time to repair I want a spare to stick in while I get it fixed up.

That way when you do swap out the '05 engine you savage will really run like a raped ape. , you can't fool this old fool any

Actually, I am just gonna replace the cam chain & mothball it. Then, when the one I am riding needs real service I will swap & keep riding while I work on it..
