Would anyone be willing/able to measure the thickness of the O-ring perhaps? That would be quite helpful.

Perhaps?

I make it out to be 3x.025" + .015"-.020" (hard to tell on rubber) ~ by the way I mic the case seal as the same thinkness if you have one of those handy

and mic the diameter@ 8x.025"

Just in case anybody is concerned about the o-ring.  During high flow conditions most of the oil will go thru the filter anyway.  If the filter gets clogged enough to restrict flow, be glad you have an alternate path.  GM has included oil bypass valves for years in their engine blocks for just such an occurance.  If your using petrol and changing oil frequently anyway, DON"T SWEAT IT.  Lots of engines in this HP range don't even have filters...

Beats Saki don't it?  Wink

As an epilogue, I went to Autozone. What a bunch of ninnies. Just gonna wait until I order something else from Ron Ayers and include a few.......or not worry about it too much.

Thanks Barry

If You have  "Harbor freight" in Your area, just go there and for $7 , You will buy a box of 500 different O-rings.

Changed the oil today. First time. The little O-ring that goes on the engine and then the filter slips over was missing. Looked at Ron Ayers and it had this part#09280-15007

O-RING D:2.4 ID

A. Is it essential to have this O-ring?
B. Can I just go to autozone and get an O-ring with a 2.4 Inside Diameter? 2.4 centimeters, I am assuming.

Item 10 is what I'm referring to.

Just barging in this topic. No advice wher to buy "O" -ring . I have a box with 200 ring for 15 $.

Back to topic:

The ring is as described D:2.4   = 2.4mm
                                     ID:15.8= 15.5mm
So the measurements will be ( I think)

Innerdiameter 15.5 mm
Outerdiameter 20.6 mm (15.5 + 2*2.4)
Thickness           2.4 mm

And , yes, it should be there. Don't believe that Suzuki went to all this trouble machining a boss in the filterhousing just for fun.

It's like a $2 part at the stealership.  I buy one every other time.  Yeah I know it's a waste of money.  But honestly I'd spend the $2 + or - to have it.  I even buy the other gasket as well.

I figure its worth it to know I get a good seal....

You have to buy it all seperate if you go the manufacture's filter like I did.

I just bought a couple from RonAyers.com when I ordered something else and keep them as spares.  I inspect it at each oil change and replace if I see any signs of wear.

Was I correct with the measurements?
