hey, thanks for the comments, yes it does seem to be running rich either low or midrange, but i cant adjust it out on the low side, so i think if i can find the pics of the spacer off somone elses savage, i could make a new one and shave it down, but since it was removed already i have no clue of the orientation of it in the carb or the size, but i think that alone would make it run much cleaner and more fuel effecient too,
about the cherry bomb, i knew if people liked the cost and benifit, somone would be asking what and where to get it so i saved the box end, at advance or autozone you can ask to go in the back and look throught the glasspacks(cherry bombs) to find the correct size, or just call them and ask if they have part number 87021 cherry bomb muffler, sku 0 43645 00380 7 it is a 1-7/8" inlet angled slightly and 1-3/4" outlet angled slightly, overall lenth 22-9/16" the prefinished red burns off quick and stink, so i sanded down to bare metal and repainted it with 1200deg red, but that is burning off too on the inlet, and so i would say it should be either left raw, powdercoated, or chromed.
i tuned it with backpressure by cutting two 1.5" slits about 3/4" apart up from the outlet and bending that small 3/4" by 1.25" or so peice down into the path of the exuast gasses, then the chrome turndown is a 8 dollar screw on from autozone and it hides the tuning, part and also cuts down a bit on that wrapping sound under hard throttle, the brackets i made by hand, i bought a 3' peice of steel band about 5/8" to 3/4" wide by 1/8" thick, wrapped it around the flange and casing and used a drill to make bolt holes, bought a 1" long 1/4" bolt 2 washers, lockwasher and nut for the clamp, and a 3/8" by 1" bolt, washer and nylon locknut for the mount, and bolt that to one of the two factory mount points, that had a rubber grommet already, it all went together with pretty basic tools, i used a dremel to cut things but you could use anything even a hacksaw,
any other ???s feel free to ask, i will try to get pics up soon min more detail if requested, matt
oh and i painted the bracket and clamp to match the muffler, makes them hid a bit
