noob clutch question (Read 5 times)

scooter_07 Ex Member	noob clutch question 01/28/07 at 15:57:36 In a car you can wear out the clutch by riding it or letting it slip too much. Are motorcycle clutches similar in that respect? I know they're "wet" versus dry in cars but I don't know what that means in practical use. Maybe somebody can edjumacate me.

Over time you will wear out the clutch if you ride it or slip it for an extended period. However, motorcycle clutches are designed to accommodate some of this slipping. Using the friction zone of your clutch for low speed maneuvers and take off (in the proper gear) will not harm the clutch any more than it will harm the brakes to slow the bike. That's what it was designed to do.
