noob clutch question

In a car you can wear out the clutch by riding it or letting it slip too much.

Are motorcycle clutches similar in that respect?  I know they're "wet" versus dry in cars but I don't know what that means in practical use.

Maybe somebody can edjumacate me.  Tongue

A  wet clutch means it resides in an oil bath, and yes they both wear with abuse.

yep, slipping the clutch when pulling away (like doing it in second gear) or riding with hand on clutch lever pulling it in enough to take up free play will do it to you! :'(

Over time you will wear out the clutch if you ride it or slip it for an extended period. However, motorcycle clutches are designed to accommodate some of this slipping. Using the friction zone of your clutch for low speed maneuvers and take off (in the proper gear) will not harm the clutch any more than it will harm the brakes to slow the bike. That's what it was designed to do.

and when it does get worn it's a fairly easy fix on the savage.
2 or so hours counting letting the exhaust cool down enough to remove it to get at the clutch cover.
