Jman, I like the turn signal. Nice, streamlined look.

Heya all!
My wife and I just got into motorcycles this year. She's starting with a rebel 250, and I'm starting with the savage. I don't know why we waited so long to give motorcycle a riding a try, because darn is it fun and addicting!

Hello. My dad was a big Goldwing fan and I rode on the back of his bike since I could sit up and hang on. He rode his bike, rain, snow, ice, shine, or whatever until the very end of his life.
In my mid 20's, I learned to ride myself and bought a Savage. This was back in the late 1980's. I then sold it for an 800 Intruder.
After my kids grew up and left the house, I figured it was time for this "old lady" to get another bike. I picked up a used 2013 S40 with 575 miles on it.
I am not your typical, middle aged, mom for sure! God, guns, gold and bikes!
I will attempt to add the bike picture.

What is the riding season up there? I must admit I am suprised at the number of riders up North but my perspective is of a year 'round commuter/rider in Southern California
Welcome!!

Something I'd like to do (but I would need to pay a wrench to do most of the hard stuff): What kit are you using?

i got mine from treasure coast trikes in florida. the quality of product is very good but customer service is slow. i think it's only a 2 person operation. and you get parts one at a time. one week i got brake master cylinder, another week i got the swingarm. a few weeks later i got the rear axle, and i'm still waiting for the fenders.

Hi there, my name is Luigi from Philadelphia Pennsylvania, I recently got a 1987 savage and just because I don't like to be normal I transformed it into a US ARMY tribute bike.

Being retired army and the former project officer in 1972 to resurrect the motorcycle scout platoon concept (on Suzuki 185's) I think your bike is very cool. I can't say I'm fond of the ape hanagers, though. They appear disproportionate to the bike. Nice tribute!

Thanks for your service Sir and thanks for your opinion on my bike, I put some home made risers and move the bars to the front a bit just looking for comfort. Eventually I will buy different handlebars, maybe drag bars? What should I go with? Once again, THANKS!

Hi,
I'm Dominick and this is my 03 Savage that my mom passed down to me. Pretty much stock but I'm starting to tinker now that I have all of this information. The bike has become my daily driver. I live in a small Georgia town named Barney and travel 25 miles each way to Valdosta where I teach, believe it or not photography. Please forgive the phone camera photo.

My name is Adam and I am retired Army. Just bought a 2013 S40 with one mile on it a few days ago. I have owned Harleys in the past but wanted something that is good for moving around Phoenix and I'll be darned if its not the most fun bike I have ever had. I have truly fallen in love with this bike.

Hello. My name is Ron. I got a bug up my butt to start riding a couple months ago. Never rode before. Mid life crisis, I suppose.
Saw a 2003 at my local bike shop. Loved the look of it. So, I bought it and learned how to ride on it. Love the bike. I tinker with it a lot. Already replaced the petcock with a raptor, raised the seat, drilled out the plug for air/fuel mix adjustment, changed the oil a couple times (once after initially getting the bike and once after I realized the original petcock was spilling gas into the vacuum line). Still fighting with the air/fuel mixture adjustment to get rid of as much backfire as possible without going to rich. I forgot to write down the orginal number of turns out the adjustment was.
Anyway....Hi!

Welcome to the forum! I live in Mesa and have owned two Savages in the last couple years. I bobbed my first one and upgraded to a newer bike a few months ago and did this. It's a great bike to modify, the possibilities are endless! I can't wait until September/October. Riding in the afternoons are blistering right now. Ugh.
