Southlake, not far from you.  I ride out that way sometimes on the backroads.

Govnor,

You will have to come out here and ride with me. I have several rural rides starting near Justin and ending up near Decatur . Sometimes I can ride for over an hour without ever seeing another vehicle.

PM me with your email address.

KennyG it won't let me PM until I reach ten posts, but it's my user name at Gmail.  I have ridden out that way some and I like that area.  I have a friend that lives in Boyd and hopefully he will have his bike running soon (not a savage) so he can ride.  I also ride up to Denton sometimes to eat at the Abbey Inn or somewhere else on the town square and have a couple of beers.  Unfortunately the weather sucks right now!

Hi Dan and welcome,
Did you by any chance buy that bike that was for sale in Devon?

Cheers, Hovis (UK)

Hi Hovis,

No, I didn't buy one from Devon, but a bit further up in Bristol - was a 100 mile trip up from Torquay...... my first time riding a hardtail was the 100 mile journey back!

Regards,

Dan

Hi there,

I'm new to riding motorcycles. I just got my learner's permit and took a motorcycle safety course the other week. I just picked up a 2009 Suzuki S40 with 1900 miles on it as my first bike.

I just found this site a few days ago and it's already been really useful in helping me carry out my first oil change...

I'm Scottish, but I have lived in Northern California for the last 18 years. I love it here and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it on my S40!

regards,

norcalscot

Welcome! I've got some Scott in me, too, though I'm mostly a Mutt  Grin
does 'norscalot' have any significance? or just a name you grabbed at random?

Just got her a couple weeks back. Had a CB650 a bit more than 10 years ago, but lost interest after a few forced rides in awful weather. Started getting the bug back a couple years ago and began saving 50 bucks a week in my sock drawer for the cause.

For whatever reason, learning a little more about bikes while riding the inline 4 just made me jealous of V-twins. Decided long ago that if I ever got another it'd be a V-twin.

Then I saw a 'bobber'. I loved everything about it. Nothing extra. Rolling gas can. Awesome. Then noticed the bikes I found most visually pleasing were all hard-tails. So about a year ago I realized what I wanted. A hard-tail V-twin bobber. Something not to huge, but not too small. 400-800cc. Something mostly customized already (young family, not much time for projects). I think some time then I might have seen a savage and thought "crappity smack it, I'd totally ride a single cylinder".

As time went by pickings were few and far between (eastern Ontario), and all out of my price range.

Then I saw her.

Seems that whatever geometry hard-tail kits provide, a slightly bobbed LS650 delivers something very similar (at least, to my eye). Super low seat height I guess. Anyway, it looked exactly right. A savage bobber. Bad ass.

So, I'm just working on getting it safetied so I can get her on the road. I might start a thread on that to add to the knowledge base. I'm learning a lot! Customized bikes throw some little tricks! Especially for n00bs.

The threads here have already been helpful. Looking forward to a sweet adjustment to my commute. See you out there (and in here).

Hi everyone.

I'm from western cape South africa, and recently acquired 2 savages.

One a 1992 LS 400 Japanese import (NK41B) and the other a 2004 650 with a few accessories.
All in all I'm happy with both, but do have a preference for the 400.
