XbombtrackX welcome, I like what you did with the tank. I might be moving out that way soon if the job comes through.... I'll be in fairhope Alabama... right now i'm in fort Walton beach florida a couple of hours from you.
Lots of folks near each other because of he popularity of the S40/Savage, look on the members live map to see who is near, could find a riding partner or just someone to hang or help with yer ride.

OK, I just got approved as a member, so here goes. We just bought a 2013 S40 for my wife to start riding. I currently have a 2006 Honda VTX 1300S and a 1969 Honda CB450. We are members of CMA, so we do a lot of riding with a lot of different people and organizations. She is signed up for the MSF course this coming weekend. Here is a picture of her and the bike if I can figure out how.

Cheers from Edmonton, home of the Eskimo. Just picked up a used Savage 650 (88), 13000 miles. Replace front Forks ( seriously bent), and front wheel rim. Rest of bike is mint.
My first cruiser. More of a Mx, Sport touring guy. However the custom cruiser , bobber scene has peaked my interest. Have new project. Looking forward to quality information in regards to this bike.

Hi Guys

I'm new to the Forum and live in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, UK.

I've just bought a 2005 S40 Boulevard with 3 previous (female) owners with only 2500 miles on the clock. This is my third LS650/S40 I've owned over the last 20 odd years. My first being a 1990 model that had only 1500 miles on it. The original owner had it professionally resprayed when he bought the bike new! - a cream colour as he liked the colour of the original Virago's.
I fitted a banana seat, fitted bar risers and flat bars, moved the registration plate and fitted a BSA Goldie silencer.
This was ridiculously loud but I wanted to emulate the 'twitter' sound that the original Goldie's made on the over-run. So I fitted a VW Beetle tail pipe in the end of the silencer, stuffed some wire wool around the insert and Bingo! it did the trick - see photo.
My second Savage was a 2001 model in metallic black with only 2000 miles on it. I didn't do much to this one except remove the engine casing varnish and polish the cases by hand.
After I sold this one I had a BFW F650 for several years but missed the low down grunt of the Savage - when one came up last May, on eBay, I bid for it but lost the auction. The winner of the auction bought it for his wife, he fitted rear rack, sissy bar and panniers - he also bought a new petcock but didn't fit it. However his wife didn't like the feet forward style so he put it back on eBay. This was fortunate for me as I bought the bike for £400 less than he paid for it - I must have been a saint in my past life  Smiley
So now I have my third bike (with spare petcock and panniers) I went for the first ride on it last night - I JUST LOVE THESE BIKES! - pulls like a tractor and gave me a smile riding around the back roads near my place.
I'll try and keep this baby - here is my first Savage - in my kitchen over winter. I'll post some photo's of bike's number 2 and 3 when I scan them in
Happy riding folks

Mark

I just wanted to introduce myself.  I hail from Canandaigua, NY.  I just fired up and rode my '03 after letting become a (dusty) garage queen for almost two years.  She couldn't wait to start!  Now I just need to get her out on the big road and twist her tail a little.  This is my second Savage (bought new in '03), my first was an '86.

I've made a few tweaks to this one; removed the spacer from the carb and richened the idle a tad, Seeger forward controls, SuperBrace on the forks, a one-piece Raask 60mm pipe, Dial-A-Jet, Harley bars to replace the original pullback bars, and a 10-inch chromed table saw blade machined and mounted inside the rear pulley for a little glitz.  No pics as yet, camera hath passed on.

I'm planning on getting a Verslavy tensioner and thinking of maybe taking the engine a bit farther performance-wise.  That Ryca bobber looks nice too...maybe that and a +9 chopper kit....so many options!
