Here is my new S40 that I'm going to convert into a bobber over the winter
Can't wait to get started but (hopefully) there's a chance that summer might return here in the UK - its been miserable!

Hello everyone, I am from Beaumont, Texas, and have acquired a '09 s40 a week ago. This is my first bike, and I am looking forward to making memories on it. I am new to all of this, and am very happy that there is an established community for s40 riders, since none of my friends have motorcycles. I always wanted to do long 1000+ mile road trips, however, my bike is currently naked and I do not have enough experience to even comfortably ride the highway; hopefully, that will change soon.   Grin

SetX,

Welcome to the forum.

There are a lot of the forum guys in various parts of Texas.

Maybe some of us could hook up for a ride sometime after the worst of the heat is over.

Kenny

Hey everyone,

New here, new to riding, and a new to me thumper. I'm from Daytona Beach, but have spent the last 2 months in Cleveland, getting a good amount of riding time and enjoying my bike more and more. Great site, I look forward to messing around with this 1 more toy I have in the garage.

Hello all, my name is Steven. I've been lurking for years since I got my first Savage as my starter back in '08, the knowledge and ideas gathered on this site are priceless.
I'm from Denmark and plan to purchase my second 'new' Savage soon, and modify it to fit my 6'6" frame in a scrambler/tracker style. The old savage did feel a bit cramped and low to the ground, but really dug (and still do) the thump and pull of that big single engine.

Hello everyone, I am from Indianapolis, Indiana. I'm new to riding, so I bought a 2005 Suzuki S40 to learn.  I have plans to mod the S40 but not sure what direction I want to go. I like Serowbot design.. But I kind of want to keep the passenger seat. Its stock except I just changed the Fuel thingy to a Raptor thingy.  The original owner tried to wax the chrome while it was hot, so it has some issues there. Other than that it seems to be a good little bike. I bought it from the Original owner. I've got all of the papers for the maintenance they did every year.

Those marks on the chrome are most likely why he no longer has any fingerprints! Shocked

I bought a 97 Savage from Clist about two weeks ago. It was cheap, it didn't run, I got it going, not much wrong with it, battery and carb. I've put a few hundred miles on it now. Built up the seat about 4 inches using junk and an old Honda seat, crude at this point, but I think I nailed the height. Made my own titty grips using bicycle handlebar tape and heat shrink. Shoved muffler fiberglass into the Jardine to set it well under sociopath levels. Cut out the battery box to accept the too large battery I bought and set up before checking it for size (doh!). Put Pirelli MT66's on it, old tires were shot. Replaced front pads, they wore out in 9000 miles, does that make sense?

And, I love the thing, it gives you a sense of riding a bike from the 50's, and my last bike was an FJR1300 (gives you a sense your riding a bike from 3013). It puts a Savage smile on my face. It loves taking me on pointless rural rides, on curvy 50 mph roads. What a fun toy, and it is so easy to work on, crude is good! And it makes speeds that are sane seem like fun. I forgot how not having a fairing really gives you a sense of how fast you're going. I like the sound of the motor, the thump thump of it, the feel of the power going to the rear wheel. Anyway, I don't know what it is like to ride a primordial thumper, but I doubt it is much different.

The Savage mindset is a good one, though I must admit to having some envy last night at Home Depot when a Valkyrie pulled into the spot next to me. Though even with my small saddlebags I had more storage space than he had! I got the sense just the chrome on his bike outweighed the Savage!
