Hello! I’m new to riding and will be taking the BRC with my wife this weekend, weather permitting. She doesn’t really want a bike and is kind of against me riding, but figures if I’m going to have one she should have some idea how to use it.
I’ve been lurking around here for a while as a part of considering what I might buy, and I’m leaning heavily towards the Savage. It just seems like the right combination of size and power for the riding I plan to do (mostly in-town, to work & back with occasional visits to the Ozarks for some twisties) at a reasonable price. Anyway, I definitely have some questions but, as this is “NOT THE PLACE”, I’ll take them elsewhere.

Your on the right site ,
The Category "Rubber Side Down" , has lots of stuff to keep your machine running , and the Café section is good for all sorts of stuff !
I wonder how many Savges there are in Denmark ?

Hey guys! Im Finn, live in Christchurch, New Zealand
Just bought my S40 a few weeks ago - 2004 model with 27000km on it.
Its my second bike, upgraded from possibly the slowest and most underpowered bike on the planet - a suzuki GN125
So far have just been cleaning it up and sorting out the oxidised parts, picking up my raptor petcock tomorrow, next on the list is cleaning out the carb.
Looking forward to gaining some knowledge!

Welcome Finn
funny you should mention a GN125 . I had one of those too. Yea mine was a red one . It was a fun little bike , and didn't weigh hardly anything . I bought it in hope my son and/or wife would pick-up ridding , but the only one who got any use out of it was my son's best friend ! Well , I rode it some too. So I sold it to a young lady for her first Street legal bike , that was three years ago and she still has it.
Finn , I've got three bike now : 2005 S-40
2007 Harley Sportster
2016 Moto Guzzi V-7II
The S-40 is still my favorite
They are all nice bikes , but I think I'll sell the Harley come Spring ... The Savage is more of a BIKE and so is the Guzzi !

MMRanch - The GN125 seems to be the standard first bike here in NZ, always a bunch of second hand ones for sale, and still being sold new.
Its an ideal little round town bike to learn on, couldn't fault it there, just a shame its not really capable of open road speeds. I ended up taking the badges off mine, painting the tank white and wrapping the exhaust - doesn't take much to change the look a lot!
That sounds like a nice collection of bikes you've got there! Strange the family isn't more tempted to have a go with those bike to choose from. Ive only heard good things about Guzzi's for a workmate who has one

The V-7II us a couple Horses short of the V-7III model but its got plenty for most Sane People , Standard seating , only 412 # for 53 HP. is good the way I ride.
The High ft/lbs-weight on the Savage/S-40 bikes makes me grin !

Finn, the GN250, was one of the best learner/returning to motorcycling bikes there is, sadly they stopped importing them and used the 125. I'm sure you will enjoy your S40 and if you want the extreme go to the RSD section and read Boosting the Thumper, by SavageBob, who is CHCH based.

MRanch the V-7II is one of the bikes I was going to look at it I was going to buy new. Decided a new bike was out of the budget tho so picked up my S40 instead
jcstokes - you're right, would have preferred the 250 over the 125, but I got a great deal on my 125. Loving the S40 so far, don't think I'll need to make any performance mods for a while yet though! Still very new to riding and going from a 125 to a 650 has been an adjustment all ready. Maybe down the track when I've got more riding experience and mechanical knowledge behind me

I've got near 50 years of ridding on all kind of bike and styles of bikes . One of my favorite bikes is the S-40 !
I'm selling the Harley and keeping the S-40 if that tells ya anything ! Its one
bike .
And the Harley is newer with less miles on it !
