Hey Perry, that VT750 is one of the few bikes where I think its best color is white. That's not a knock if yours isn't! It's a nice looking bike no matter what.
Welcome back!
I really like white on the VT750RS too ... though mine isn't; it's a kinda grey color. Had a white '05 S40 back in the day and I loved the look of that

Hello Everyone! I recently acquired a 1986 Savage from a friend in trade for getting his other motorcycle up and running. Due to some fuel/ carb issues it has been parked in a storage unit for 3-4 years. I have already learned alot from skimming the forums for fixes and common issues the past few days and have a pile of parts coming to get it running before i start doing some custom work.

I’m Dale Moore, a retired Coastie and live in the Florida panhandle. I’ve been a biker for 50+ years. I recently bought a 2005 S40 with 4k miles. I’m doing a little work on it to improve performance (mild) and reliability. I chose this bike because I plan to do an extended trip around the country with my pickup camper and wanted a light weight bike to ease loading/unloading at destinations. Been lurking this site for a couple weeks.Great site and information source.

Hi everyone, this is Noob reside in the Big Apple, just got my 07 last year and planning to commute with my LS650 when the weather gets warmer.
I'm happy to see there is a dedicated LS650 forum to learn and share with since the LS650 is a discontinued model from Suzuki.

Gad to be here. Shout out to the Admins and others that keep the forum running so we can sit up late and talk about bikes!
I currently ride a 125cc motor scooter (about 10 hp) so a Savage/S40 will be a nice step up. All my buddies want to buy big heavy cruisers, but I like to keep the curb weight around 350 lbs. I have to ride in a lot of surface street traffic, so lighter is better. I am also over 60, so My joints ain't growing any new cartilage.
To be honest, I would prefer the DR650, but I am not tall enough. Its tough to ride a tall bike in stop n go traffic. Thanks!

I agree about the tall seat height. I like the idea of a bike with long suspension, due to the poor roads around here. There is the possibility of installing a lowering kit to bring the seat height down.

I think the lowering link for the DR only drops the seat by a tad over an inch, Buster. I would need at least a couple of inches to ride comfortably in city traffic.
I have heard of seats for sale with less foam, lowering the seat height. I have even seen guys remove foam from the stock seat and recover it to make it easier to ride.
I guess I don't want a DR bad enough to install such things.

Hello everyone I just bought a 2016 s40 with 475 miles on it(guy dropped it once never rode it again). I am disabled and just left the army at the ripe age of 27 thanks to some nerve damage and an autoimmune disease thanks to Afghanistan. I picked this bike because I can support the weight with my damaged leg and honestly thought i would hate it going from a HD to a mid weight cruiser... but this bike is solid! I am currently doing my own custom build on it with delkevic 16" slash tip, DEI Titanium exhaust wrap, a Yamaha 660 fuel "selector", eliminating brake light and license plate assembly for a custom bracket I made at my forge with integrated turn and brake lights from kuryakyn. Rejett coming soon pulling off the fenders for matte black paint pillion handles painted matte hot rod blue tank matte black with matte blue sides hopefully an updated analog speedo mounted on handlebars and then some......

Hi all.
Name is Tomas (obviously). I am from Denmark. Owned a Savage since 2019 and I am in love with it.
I know a little about mechanics and do maintanence myself.
My bike in the pic, is how it looked in 2019. New handlebars since then.
I do long roadtrips on my Savage. 4500 miles last time in 2 weeks, going up from Denmark thru Sweeden to halfway up in Norway and back.

TensionGrenade, Welcome to your new ride and the forum. You will find the S40 much easier to ride and handle. Appears you have some nice plans to customize your ride. I do have a Delkevic on my one Savage, I would recommend an additional baffle or 2 to slightly lower the sound level and too make it a little deeper.
There are a couple catalytic baffles available that fit in the end of the delkevic and are easy to install. You might need to add a shim around them. Radiant Cycles in Fla. offers them in a couple different sizes, I believe for insert in end of Delkevic it is a 52mm, but not sure on that. There is another version on Amazon, I have used both.
Thanks for your service, good luck.
