If the problem was linear or relative to the number of miles, then the photo of my tensioner at 14,000 makes perfect sense when compared to yours. After that, I'd say that getting the Verslagy mod is a good choice, but you should also just get a new cam chain. It's more work to change, but that's what caused this in the first place....
