Top end blowin oil

My savage is blowin oil around the top end, I have been told it is a head gasket but another guy said it is the head seal cap, does anyone know anything about this? If it is the cap is it difficult to change?

Read up on the above link - I'll go out on a limb and say it's the head plug, very common, the dealers can cause it, vast marjority the cases here have all been the head plug, 1 or two leaking around the other seals on either the bolts or the oval gasket.

if your head gasket was leaking the odds are high the bike would not run well if at all

If the previous replys did'nt do the trick, here is one that is a long shot.
For some reason ppl have a bad habit of thinking the crankcase vent tube needs to be seperated from the factory device(those that remove the air box all together, this is not you), and made to bend to thier will, and most of the time they'll put one of those little filters on the end of the hose rite below the carb. I have even seen some just poke the hose downward, kinda like they were done from the factory in the 60's-70's. If the later has been done,(long shot) and some winged insect has made a nest in the end of the hose, the build up of crankcase pressure will cause oil to leak profusely from the weakest seal, and that most likey is the seals around the top of the Savage engine. The hose could also just be kinked.  You said it was blowin oil. Like a chicken which just lost its head, or just a paper cut bobo? Well shoot I almost forgot which bike I was talking about. There is a tube comeing from the very top of the engine on the right side in the front behind that crome cover. That is the vent hose, take off the tank to see if it has gotten pinched,(follow it to the air box where it should still go) take out the oil drain plug(yes it cost to fix things) and see if you can blow thru the vent hose on top of the engine, if you can, you should feel the air comeing from the drain pug hole. If you don't take out the plug you won't be able to blow thru it, because that hose is the vent to the crankcase which is otherwise sealed, the drain plug is in the crankcase to let the oil out, and will open the case so air can go thru. If you can't blow thru look for obstruction. Ta Da, jaberwakie do da, have a day of niceness.
