Removing Passenger Footpegs

Is it possible to remove the passenger (pillion for you Brits) pegs with the rear tire in place?  There's an allen hex-head bolt inboard of the swingarm holding them in place and I can't find enough room to swing a wrench properly.  Lot of work to remove the rear wheel for this supposedly simple job.  Hints, anyone?

Wait until you need to take the rear tire off for some reason!  Wink

It's one of those jobs that begs for a "special tool", but it would be used so little, that it doesn't make sense to make one.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

You could grind off most of the sort leg off an allen key (do you call them hex wrenches in the States?) so the tool needs little clearance and let the air out of the tyre to allow you to push the rubber out of the way a bit to draw out the screw, but as it only takes 5 minutes to slacken off the rear adjusters and draw out the wheel spindle, you'd probably be quicker and have to swear less it you pull the wheel.
