2007 S40 aftermarket saddle bag brackets
04/08/08 at 12:28:40

I recently bought some after-market saddle bag brackets on ebay from ID "8pointman" (does anyone know him?)

Anyway, I guess they are supposed to attach to the fender at the:
A) lower front bolts, and
B) rear bolts where the turn signals mount.

I looked at the turn signal mounts on my S40, and there does not appear to be a bolt with a nut, but rather a kind of pin or something protruding out under the fender.  (sorry if this doesn't paint an accurate picture)

I am wondering if something changed between the Savage and the S40 or if as usual I am just missing something really simple  Embarrassed

How do you attach saddle bag brakets to the rear of the fender?

Here are photos of the brackets and bags that I got:

It looks like I am going to need to move the turn signals anyway since the bags are so big (14"x12"), but I am wondering if anyone has some insight they could share regarding this.

Thanks!

they should mount on the inside of the fender (wheel side).   There are bolts on the wheel side that hold the chrome fender suppot (sorry support might not be the real name...).

Thanks for your reply T Mack.  Have you seen this on an S40?  There are bolts in the wheel-well on the front, but it is different at the back where the turn signals are.

Matt, I just got done messing with mine so i know what you are talking about but there is a bolt on the backside of the fender about halfway between the front bolts and the turn signal hole. keep looking, you'll find it.

Thanks Al,

So are you saying that I am supposed to attach one side to the upper-front (foremost) bolt and then find the other bolt you described - which is NOT located at the turn signal mount?
