I used Permatex Ultra Copper High Temp Silicon.  Good results so far.

Got it at Auto-Zone, but it should be at most large chain Auto stores.

Used very thin layer of high temp silicone seal. Not a drop of oil for the last 5700 miles Wink

Oh yea....  make sure you clean the surfaces of grease & oil.    Alcohol (rubbing not drinking.... ) on a paper towel works.

If you use a spray (brake cleaner / carb cleaner) , watch where you spray.   Some of the sprays have solvents that can damage rubber  & paint.

I just got my tube in last week.  I got it from the stealership and they charged me $20!  It's just the size of a tube of toothpaste!

Thanks for the info. Guess I will try the silicone stuff. Just hope I can get it on thin enough to not get in any of the oil passages.

i cut the bristles down to about 1/4 " on a acid brush, a cheap brush used by radiator shops to brush on acid to clean while soldering. Bought a bunch years ago from Harbor Freight and toss em when the start to lose the bristles. Max

+1 on the Permatex Ultra Copper.  It's pretty easy to get back off, too.

The first stuff I ever used for this job was ThreeBond 1104 (due to a recommendation from my dealer).  The stuff worked great, but was a real b*tch to remove later.  Therefore, I do not recommend ThreeBond 1104 for this application.

IHTH someone!
