I just rode my friend's savage (which only has 3,000 miles) and i realize how much better the clucth was. Perhaps its time for a new clutch. Instead of running to the local stealership, I was wondering how difficult it is to change the clutch? What kind of tools are needed?

It's easy.
remove right peg assembly.
remove exhaust and header.
disconnect clutch.
remove cover

4 bolts and you have a pile of disks in your hands.

check your cam chain adjuster while you're there.

I'd go with HD clutch springs 1st.
but measure the thickness's of the disks to make sure they are still in spec.

It can be done in a couple of hours, make sure to get a clutch cover gasket ahead of time.  If they're fairly new, they can be reused.  But best to have or you'll need to go get one at the last minute.  RTV does not do a good job, especially if you're in a hurry.

This is one of the gaskets that I'd recommend as a spare to everyone.
