Posts: 43 Gender:	Confining Handlebars 07/10/08 at 06:24:46 I wouldln't consider myself a tall person at 5'9'' but i feel like the handlebars are a little confining. I don't want anything like a 2 foot tall ape hanger, but does anyone have a suggestions for bars that give a little more space to stretch out and also look good?

I'm 5' 10" and they're very comfortable for me that way.

My '03 Savage had the stock buck-horn type bars and though I'm a smaller person (5'-4 1/2" @ 135lbs), I too found 'em a bit "confining" ... loosened the clamps and rotated the grips up and ahead and it made a world of difference to the overall comfort of the Ride and improved the steering as well!
Now have an '05 S40 with the stock drag bar/pull-back riser combo and find that even better! Cool

I didn't even think about tilting my existing bars forward. Thats actually a great idea. I'll try it this afternoon. perhaps that will save me some $$ instead of buying new.

If I do decide to go new though, i was looking at some fatty drag style bars. They are 33'' wide. Does anyone have bars this wide on a savage. I'm not sure if this will be too wide or not.

They make a world of difference in comfort.

I've got 30" drag bars with a 15^o pullback and stock riser. They feel amazing. They actually change the riding position so much that the seat feels wonderful! It's like riding a crotch rocket, cruiser hybrid. and the handling is that of a dirtbike. 1 drawback though, with the bar that low, you need to put a glove in between the bar and the tank when you park Wink

It is well worth it though

Before looking into $$$ nfor new bars, and the hassle of changing everything over; try reversing the risers. That's what I did, and problem solved. It extended my reach out a couple of inches, and took care of the cramped feeling I was having with the controls.
