I was coming to a stop sign so I pulled on the shoulder and switched to the reserve and it started right up. When I pulled away I looked at my odometer and realized that I should have plenty of gas left. I opened it up and sure enough I had gas and about 40 more miles left before reserve. That's the first time it's happened. I bought the bike, a stock '08, in May and have put 3800 miles on it.
I also have an 08 purchased in May. It doesn't like our cold Canadian weather. Although not that cold, around 30 to 40 degree temperature, it does not want to run, will stall as if it were flooding. Add a little choke and the engine will immediately die out. Appears to be spark plug fouling and needs the plug changed from the #8 to #7 in the heat range for cooler temperatures. Allow it to idle for a few minutes, the engine becomes hotter and it returns to normal again only to repeat the stalling again as it is ridden in the cold air. I think it wants to hibernate for the winter.
