front .brake drags when backing bike up
02/10/09 at 06:18:31
it's an 08 s40. It's done this since it was new. Doesn't make any noise going forward that I can tell, but it is rubbing when i back it into the garage. Is this an issue for a warranty repair?

Mine's a '06 bought new in July '08. Does the same thing especially so when slowly backing up and turning the front wheel.

Do you just hear it or do feel it noticably drags?
Hearing it would be normal, it's not used to going that way.

light drag is normal,...as long as it's not preventing the wheel from rolling easily, it's o.k.....

If the sound is constant & light, then its okay & the rotor is straight.
You can grab the calliper & shove it & pull on it & make sure its free on its guides. Remember to set the brake pads back against the rotor or the first time you hit the brakes you might be disappointed.

The effect you describe was normal on my former '03 Savage and likewise for my current '05 S40 ... never had any issues because of it, so never paid it too much mind ...

I am glad to read this post, i heard that on my 87 just a couple of days ago and had no idea what it was. I was thinking a bearing or something, but it never did it while going forward. Again, a good bit of news.

Does it on my '08 Savage as well, even after I swapped out the brake pads. Never gave it much thought, as it didn't do it when rolling forward.
