Welcome!...

...One thing I really need and want to add asap is the passenger backrest.

You may know this already but... To add the backrest you will need to swap the side rails for the "sissy-bar compatible" versions . You might find someone here who is removing their sissy bar and is willing to swap side rails with you - try asking in the Marketplace.

Yeah - I actually really liked the way the "pink" one looked, when I thought it was red, from the pix on the Suzuki site. After reading the "pink" thread though, not so much Wink  The white/silver one looks great though. The all white one I got, probably would have been my last choice, but now that I have it, I'm really loving it - it's beautiful, and, pretty uncommon.  At least here in NY, where black is the new black  Smiley

I didn't know that - hadn't researched it that far - thanks for the tip!  Actually I'm not positive what side rails you're talking about, without looking at the bike directly, but I'm sure it will become apparent when I check it out (at least I hope so).  Thanks again!

Thanks Alcoa - as I noted, white wouldn't have been a first choice, but man do I like it now that I have it - absolutely beautiful!  I do love the bike already.  Today I found a big open lot at the end of my street, and just went nuts, practicing all kinds of maneuvers, really getting a feel for it.  Had a blast, what fun!

Those chrome rails on the sides of the rear fender, that the rear turn signals mount in.

I'm wanting to get the sissy bars too, eventually. Cool

So is there an aftermarket Suzuki or OEM solution, or do you have to get the rails off an older model?

I have an 08 and got the after market solution rack and back rest. The rack has long arms that fit between the stock rails & fender. The back rest bolts to the rack. They provide slightly longer bolts to accomadate the extra thickness. It fits well and works great. But its pricy. I think it cost me around $300 for the kit. I ordered it thru the dealer parts dept.

That sounds good to me - ordered it on line, or from a brick and mortar dealer?

It was the Brick & Mortar dealer where I bought the bike. I can't remember the name of the after market outfit that supplied the kit. If it comes to me, I'll post it.

Welcome fretman.  This is an amazing resource for information.  If you plan on doing any maintenance yourself, get a manual and the savage companion cd(from the Savage Store).  I spend so much time reading the tips and step by step instructions here, I've only had time for a few posts.  This bike floats like a Bigsby tremolo and stings like a '55 stratocaster.  Ride safe, stratman

Thanks, that would be helpful. I'll check with the local Suzuki dealers. All I found new online, was some stuff by "Cobra", but it didn't turn uo the bars, just the padded rests...

Thanks - I know absolutely ZILCH about mechanics, but I would eventually like to be able to do routine stuff myself.  I have the owners manual, but not the service manual - I'd like to pick that up, and the cd as well.  I'll get into it after a little more time in the saddle, right now I'm just having way too much fun riding  Smiley

Stratman, eh?  I don't have a Strat, but I have two Mustangs. and I'm shopping for a Tele.  My main axes now are a Les Paul, and a custom "Blake".  Cheers, and thanks again!

I just ordered what looks like the same deal, from a Suzuki Dealer in Manhattan, came in at just about $300.  I'll have it in 5 days, I'm psyched!  Broke, but psyched Smiley
