On my '96 I always had it the decomp adjusted to what I thought was loose but w/in spec.
On my '88o2, just adjusted it loose.
When starting my '96 it always turns over a couple of times before lighting up.
My '88o2 lights up right away and on ocassion labored on the 1st rev.
And I've heard it said that the starter doesn't have the oomph to turn it over if the compression wasn't released.
I've readjusted the decomp cable and now it starts like the '96.
