Changing front brake pad (Read 314 times)

I saw there is a pretty complete tutorial in this forum on how to do that but I wondered if you had more advice. Also, where do you guys buy your pads? Online? If so, what website? Thank you

The right ones have thinner wear material. Search the forum for the part number. Once you start the change, you will find it very easy

Here's the link I used from the Tech Section. THIS is an AWESOME step-by-step process. It really did only take 30mins. from start to finish. Wink

Be sure and read the following posts to the thread. Really helpful stuff...

Brand:EBC Part #:FA 106 or FA 106X These work GREAT on these bikes.

NOT the Part #: FA 106/2 *Avoid this style/Make sure your parts guy doesn't accidentally give you these*

I live in a really hot desert zone. And I wanted to know how much these pads should last?

BTW...you're saving yourself around $40.00 in service costs... Wink

I don't recommend the 106X compound. They are made mostly for dirt bikes used in muddy/dirty conditions, and on the Savage they made for a lot of effort on the lever to get them to work. The 106 works far better (EBC Organic pads).

One allen wrench, a c-clamp and I think a 17mm ratchet and the whole job was done in less than 20 minutes including cleanup. Pretty straight forward.
