UPDATE: (need new rear tire) bike is running fine, almost rode
on it 1k miles since I bought it and all is just dandy,
still want a brighter headlamp but the 45w did make
a positive difference but now it needs new rear tire.
The other day i almost kissed the road, hard, when
the rear tire kept going on a wettish curve (oil patch?)
but my old motocross instincts, along w/the low weight
of the bike, saved my butt when I kicked the pavement
with my inside leg and gave it gas to recover verticality,
it worked!
anyway
What size tire you'all think fits a 16" araya
rim originally made for a 3.50x16 tire?it has a new D-404 in front so i was thinking of a matching
D404 110/90 D16 59 P as well, I want something
somewhat wider and a bit round so i can safely curve and
lean the bike a bit, cause that original bidgestone 3.50 tire
is a joke, just too thin. And yes, there is a good deal of space
to put something wider in it, but how wide can the rim take?
And can I put a correct size front tire in the rear of this light bike
or are the threads and/or rubber compound somewhat different?
Cause I cannot a find a dunlop 404 that size designed specifically
for the rear.
Any ideas? thanx again.

So I bought this used 97`yamaha sr125,
motor has about 7K miles and is in pretty
good shape; great w/gas and insurance.

- fresh oil
- sparkplug
- new battery
- gas & oil filter
- new clutch cable
- lubed chain & controls
- new front dunlop 404 (it`s GREAT!)
- smaller rear sprocket (46T / original 49T)
....aanyway, the thing runs fine and goes about 60mph flat
(no headwind), 65mph downhill and 45ish up nasty uphills
1) Need passing power, what would YOU do for a bit more torque ?notes: has original exhaust, will "opening" it
be counterproductive? will investing in a new one
make a big difference/what kind fits? 5th gear is kinda
useless except downhill; it has a 22mm? carb and a
102 main jet (choked with a 112, will try a 108 soon).
2) Need auxiliary lamps for night drivingnotes: it has a mediocre 35/35W old-school bulb, would
replacing it with a 45/45W modern bulb damage my CDI?
Would (2x) 55W auxiliary lamps (direct battery hook-up?)
drain/damage my battery?
3) Carb and airbox are spotless, petcok is fine, but...it starts/runs/accelerates fine BUT it "chokes/gasps" everytime
I downrev at highspeeds for a curve and then want to give it gas
again, what gives?
Thanks in advance, all advice appreciated
