Well, if you're considering C50s & Vulcan 900s, you should look at the V-Star 950. It is air cooled belt drive like the Savage. The 950T comes with leather covered hardbags, w/s & ssisy bar. The 3 bikes are close to the same price if you shop around.
My 950 engine is so much quieter than my friends C50 it makes him worry about his engine. I recently did the valve adjustment on his & it was a major PITA! Then I checked his cooling system & changed the lube in the final drive. The C50 is the only one of the 3 with a drum rear brake. It also has much fewer choices in oil filters.
Just a few of the things we've learned so far riding these 2 bikes together.
Look past what it looks like & toward what it will take to keep it up after you get it. Before buying anything check out forums for each one & you can soon learn each bikes pros & cons.
JMHO Cool

Almost forgot, the mags are much easier to clean & use tubeless tires.

The 950T is about 650 lbs, the C50 & the Vulcan are about the same similarly equipped. I thought getting used to the weight would be a problem, but the 950 seems to have a lower center of gravity than my Savage. That being said, any of these 3 are very different from the Savage.
I've had Hondas, Kawasakis, Suzukis, Yamahas, Triumphs, Nortons,
BSAs & H-Ds, & probably some others I've forgotten. I've never been Brand loyal, preferring to ride whatever fits my needs.
I'm more loyal to the concept of simplicity than any brand.

That is some good advice! Nice looking bike too! I've always leaned towards the Yamahas myself, whether it was a bike or quad.

For what it's worth...
The last bike I had was a vstar 650. They are very comfortable & smooth bikes. I have to say it was the easiest bike to ride I've ever been on. Almost like you couldn't knock it over with a truck.. Very stable. I used to jokingly compare it to a Cadillac. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it needed another gear! I'm sure the 950 doesn't have that problem...
The Yamahas have always been easier to maintain. Plus they're air cooled which goes a long way in my book. A good friend rides a vulcan... Runs and rides good, sounds good too but no thanks. You need 3 hands to change the oil.

Earlytimz the pic you supplied of the bobbed Triumph was cool yet, I would want to add a fender as well. Here in Wa I find that the weathermen can be wrong.. Shocked

This is the Triumph that gets my oil pumping

If you're into Triumphs you should check the schedule of their demo trucks. I think they have two touring the country this summer. They're gonna be around here in July and I want to try a Rocket III Roadster.

I rode one of these Street Triples at Laconia last year. The torque curve is so smooth that I started from a dead stop in third gear without knowing it until I saw the gear indicator.

I like the American. Very good looking and well reviewed. I like the Vulcan. Also good looking and well reviewed. Honda and Yammies just didn't click with me. When it came time to open the wallet, my C50 won. And not because of the thousands saved. I like the style, its very comfy, and has good power. 3500km and I'm a happy camper. Grin

The bottom fell out just as I was leaving work this afternoon. It was upper 80's and sunny all day up til then. Around here, we often get pop-up showers from the heating & humidity. It lasted about 5 minutes & didn't even rain at my house. I didn't like it... but I roughed it! I had on a white shirt, my rear tire put some killer stripes up my back. I guess that's what I get for bobbing that fender so much!! LoL
Oh well... Pimpin ain't easy...

It is nice that your able to ride whether it is rain or shine.
One good thing is it was warm enuf that your shirt dried quickly..

Again I live for the day when I can again straddle my bike and no matter rain or shine, take to the road and go till I need to refuel.
