Do any of you engineering types out there have any input for me on what squish clearance I should run on KLX if not, savage numbers will do.

Im real slow to some things, but do the savage and KLX have similarities? When I google the LS 650 it sometimes KLX results.

the savage compression ratio is about 8.5
isn't the klx about 10?
The bore and stroke on the savage 94x94 and klx something else. So squish is apt to be something else.
If you're shaving the head/cylinder, lancer the only one I know to have done it.

My KLX is 100x83 and 9.5:1 cr and she revs to 7500 not 6500 so squishes would be within 0.001". I've done a lot of research and the best I can find is that safe is 0.05", but with squish it is best to be as small as poss without touching, that is what I'm asking.
Thanks guys.

ps
Valve sizes are KLX 37mm inlet 32mm exhaust. Savage 33mm inlet 28mm exhaust.

Put some clay on top of the piston equal to the amount of clearance you're supposed to have then crank it thru by hand to see if you really have that much clearance.

I did the squish on my 350LC 0.04" was good, 0.035" was a little tight, stopped it forming carbon.

I am not sure where I saw it but seems like 0.04" was listed as a safe number.
When I did the clay on mine a couple of weeks back it was just a hair over that...if I got the measure correct ....... ? ? ? I sure hope so.
