Great pics and an entertaining thread. Glad we're all out enjoying the ride. Style and gear tend to change with age. Nothing worse than outliving your look! As one of my construction mentors used to say, "H@ll, when I was a young man I'd mow my grass in nothing but a speedo and all the girls would blow kisses...now they throw ROCKS!!!"  Grin

LMAO!! Hey John, I had that same look after a big ride once... Way back in the early 90's. The worst part was I had to be IN a wedding the following weekend (not my own!) I never thought I'd go to a tanning bed place, but I went every night that week and my head-line was evened out in time for the wedding... Good times!!

I know this will probably shock some folks, maybe even piss a few off...
I ride in shorts, t-shirt & ankle high boots most of the time. I wear my skid lid about 90% of the time & a hoodie when it gets below mid 60's on my way to work in the morning.
I'm a fair weather rider, any more than 30% chance of rain & I'm in the truck. Below 50* & yep, I'm in the truck.

When you live in a state that doesn't require a helmet, it's really hard to put that thing on!! Once you get the feeling of your hair blowing in the wind it almost ruins you! I make myself wear mine when I commute, but sometime I gotta let my hair down! (pun intended)

I'm waiting... LoL

I will testify that ATGATT saved my a**  and other body parts from being more seriously hurt than I was in my accident.
I stated back when it first happened how all the emergency responders as well as the deputy, gave me high 5's for being in leather as well as ff helmet.
Again had I been in any other kind than ff then my jaw would have suffered severe injury. The ff kept that from happening.

I will always wear my gear for sure now. We can debate gear vs no gear all night long and I won't change my mind on that..

Earlytimz, you not wearing gear and helmet does not piss me off. It makes me shake my head in wonder.

Accidents happen at times from no fault of our own. Even if we had a no helmet law here in Wa. State I would still wear one. Same with my leathers and boots.
Even here in Wa. State  there are ones that ride in shorts, tennis shoes, tank tops. I shake my head at them as again I have been down. I know how it feels to hit pavement. At least I didn't have to have any skin graphs. The injuries that I sustained have been nothing compared to what I would have had with no gear.

So now you have my opinion on gear and ff helmet. I may disagree with you on this yet that is what makes us all interesting, our differences of opinions.. Wink

Hey Kim, you won't get a debate from me on that! I commend you and your decision. I do wear my FF when it gets chilly & sometimes at night, but mainly for the warmth & because the bugs are friggin crazy here after dark.

Bill, (hold on to your hat) I respect your point of view & think I actually agree... I'm not into the leather chaps & the costume part of it either, I'm in it for the ride. Not gonna knock it though...

Around here, about 40% of the bikers I see are wearing a helmet. Maybe 20% in full gear. The squids are normally better about it, or so it seems....

One thing I won't waiver on is my boots. I don't wear riding boots, just good leather lace-up style boots. Your feet are always the first thing to hit the road when something goes wrong. I've had a close call or two where I've had to put my feet down to save my butt. When I see someone in flip flops on a bike I just wanna smack 'em. One close call in those and you've got no chance of saving it...

My brother has been in NC for several years & they have a helmet law. He came to visit last summer & brought his bike so we could ride together for the first time in many years. I remember him talking smack about how he always wears his helmet & had every intention to wear it while he was here. Well, I never saw him put it on & he even admitted it was addicting... After that he was ruint for sure!

I don't make the kids wear a helmet on their bikes either. I think kids these days have become somewhat pu$$y-fied with all the helmets and knee pads and crap.
Hell, we don't even have a net on our trampoline out back... Probably get me arrested one day for neglect! LoL

Howdy Bill, my name is Kim. I went down as result of being rear ended by a 92 year old woman that ran a stop sign.
Perhaps in your 39 years of riding experience you might be able to give me some pointers on how to avoid going down, heaven forbid the situation ever happening again

I not only wear gear for protection yet as for warmth as well. I get chilled very easily. I have been in situations where I didn't have on enough layers even. That is a very uncomfortable feeling.
You evidentually have a higher body heat than I do.  Smiley

I rode for quiet a few years with my wife riding her bike behind me,So I am use to looking in my rear view mirrors,When there is some one behind me I keep a close watch on them,As for as cold I don't ride less than 60 degrees,I don't like riding when its cold,Most the time I have a shirt and blue jeans,I always wore cowboy boots,And my wife did because we were short,But with the lower seat height I wear tennis shoes.I have always had a big windshield which keeps you warmer.
