Tough News About My Brother!

After 9 months of preparing for the probable eventuality of being my brother's bone marrow donor, I found out yesterday I'm not a close enough match! Made it all the way to the 3rd-4th tier, whatever that means, but in the end it wasn't good enough! My sister was much farther off the mark. It's up to the national donor registry now!
I've never felt so helpless in my life! The Scotch didn't help much last night, maybe the Savage and a long ride will help today! Please keep him in your prayers!

Oh Dan I'm sorry to hear that. But the registry is huge, so there has to be a match out there somewhere. As my husband always says "there's a lid for every jar".

My thoughts and prayers go out to you, your brother, and entire family. I'm looking forward to a long vacation weekend this coming weekend, I'll have a drink in honor of your bro.

Dan, that really sucks. You want to help, you are ready to help, and you can't help. Frustrating at the very least.
I know a ride always does me a world of good.. but I wind it up and push the limits so I don't have to think about anything else for a while. Then I sit along a stream alone and think about the rest. Good therapy, just don't mix the riding and the scotch.

Thanks to all for the replies. I really appreciated it! Time to get over myself and on to the best way I can help him! I'm on the national registry now so if I can't help him I can help SOMEBODY and will join the effort locally to get more people to consider signing up!
I think the last two days reminded me that the road is a good balm, but the peace has to come from within!
