1. The vast majority of the current "violent hot spots" are actually Nations which were Colonies ruled by Alglosaxon Governors no more than 100 years ago.
See the Sudan, Kenia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran (formerly known as the Persian Empire) Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Birmania... all the way to the Philippines...
Those Countries that "made it through the tunnel", such as South Africa, Tanzania or Kenia (to a lesser degree) or some Central American countries, including Nicaragua, San Salvador and Cuba, had to shrug off interventionism with blood, sweat and tears (to quote Sit Winston Churchill) This has nothing to do with Socialism, it's not even off Wikipedia, I actually do have a paper encyclopedia, but I still remember what I studied in High School over 30 years ago

You’re birth rate is 1.31. You rank 202 out of 220 in replacement rate.
At least you’re trying to buck the trend and not have your culture overrun by immigrants (mostly Muslims) but you won’t be able to hold out with your standard European style entitlement programs and pressure from your suicidal neighbors.
Italy is a beautiful place, I hope you succeed.
2. Tha vast majority of immigrants in Italy are NOT Muslims (you still confuse ethnicity with religion, WebsterMark) but Romanians, Ukrainians, Bulgarians and Albanians... all either Catholic or Orthodox.
Actually, it is considered that up to 3% of the overall population residing in Italy could be Romanian - and that's not includint the Gypsies...
3. After the fall of the Roman Empire - officially in 476 AD but actually quite earlier - Italy has successfully survived foreign dominations by the Arabs in Sicily and the South, Longobard Celts, Goths, Visgoths, Vandals, Huns, Spaniards, French, Dutch, and in these last 60 years has successfully shunned domination by the English (sorry, Mick) and the US.
Sure, politicians were often "coached" or "charmed" by the "american way of doing politics", but the Soviets had started doing just as much with the opposition, so... what's that saying ?
"If you can't beat them, join them"? How about "If you can't beat them, try harder"?
As for "Muslims" (actually, Arabs) being the barbarians you believe, may I quote these two facts off my head without having to look it up in Wikipedia:
- Frederick II of Schwaben, Emperor of Germany, was actually born in Palermo and ruled all his life from Sicily; he was the main player of the so called "Crusade that never was", winning through diplomacy against the Egyptian, Syrian and Persian Ambassadors when the Pope thundered that "The Sword is stronger than the Quill"
Frederick (not to be confused with Frederick II of Prussia, many centuries later) spoke fluent latin, Greek, German and, hear hear, Arabic, and had countless Jewish and Muslim Counsellors in his Cabinet - much unlike other contemporaries who believed in the Bible alone, and often couldn't even read or write - see Richand the Lionheart.
- Queen Elizabeth 1st knighted "Sir" Walter Raleigh in the 16th century for laying down his cape allowing the Queen to cross a muddy road in downtown London... which means the English either
didn't know how or
couldn't afford to pave their roads... At the same time, in Istanbul (Costantinople until 1453) Baghdad and Alexandria in Egypt
already had night lighting with oil lamps in the main streets... I'll omit details on the quality of their roads... or other details on logistics and the armies of the times.
I can't deny Islam is a Religion which calls to battle...
...so does Christianity... have your listened carefully to the words of your Sunday Hymns ?
Have you carefully read what it says in Numbers, Chronicles, Kings, Isaiah or orther Prophets ?
Are you aware that it's all a convetion of pots calling other kettles "black" ???
So... here's a few examples of Socialism adopted by the USA:
- free schooling to all kids
- schoolbooks provided by the school (that's how it was for me during the Nixon years)
- school lunches for all at the same price
- schoolbuses for all at the same price
- police & fire protection for all at the same price (local taxes at work),
- an attorney provided by the local authorities if you can't afford one
- Social Security
- Unemployment benefits
...
I could go on and on and on, I'm just teasing you, Webstermark, my perception is that you have not really seen nor visited much of Europe, and even if you were a US serviceman in Europe, with all you've got in the US military bases and AAFES Support Areas, you could live your entire life without ever needing to change a single Euro to go out and see the locals !
(Stimpy may witness to that)
Regardless or the birthrate, WMark, that's not a measure for success nor for survival; investigate on the birthrate of any "blue-blood" family in New England who can claim birthright from the original Pilgrim fathers, they're the true American Aristocracy, do you really believe they have 7-child families ? I think not.
As Sir Mick correctly pointed out, it takes more than a kebab deli in the neighborhood to change the rules; Italy was rebuilding from US-procured "freedom" (=rubble), courtesy of B-29 carpet bombing on 2000 year old villages, when Georgia and Alabama were still at odds with apartheid laws and separate buses for whites and blacks.
'nuff said.
I'll be away for two weeks, please save your replies and take notes, I'll be back around 15 August.
